G’mar Chatima Tova! Now that High Holidays are over and Sukkot is on the horizon, the DC Jewish community is back in full fall swing. Be sure to check here for upcoming events!
In what’s become my tradition, I spent the day at Adas Israel and broke my fast with YP@AI. Although I didn’t see it, the afternoon interview featured Sheryl Gay Storberg interviewing David Brooks. And speaking of Yom Kippur events that I did not attend, if anyone has some recollections from the Kol Nidre service at Occupy DC, I’d love to hear about it!
Among the things I did see, here is Rabbi Steinlauf’s sermon about the power of longing. It was certainly a message that hit home for me personally, after a day of fasting and attempting to deal with the regrets of the year past so that I can more fully embrace the future. Check out the rest of his blog for more of his work.
Hope we are well rested, well fed, and moving towards the next holiday of erecting sukkahs in our backyards or synagogues. Shana tova and here’s to a sweet new year!
