JewishDC: Global and local outreach

Evening, all! I am embarrassed to say that though I’d already blogged about it, something came up which stopped me from attending NextGen’s Think Jewishly: Act Globally panel Monday night. If anyone reading took part, I’d love to hear your thoughts! The night included remarks from leaders of the Jewish Federation, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, American Jewish World Service, and The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society concerning the Jewish community’s philanthropic response to global events like the Haiti earthquake and etc. Hopefully covered some great tikkun olam!

Meanwhile, a little closer to home, some recently-moved young, professionals are trying to gather their local Jewish peers with a new website, The site features such things as a list of local Jewish organizations and events, to a community forum and “Jew of the Week” profiles. Check them out, and sign up for an account! Read more info in this Washington Jewish Week profile here.
