DC Chanukah Happenings 5770!

The winter season is upon us- the weather turns cold and icy and people begin to count the days until they get a little time off from work or school. Why not warm yourself by the kindling Chanukah lights? Local Jewish groups are getting ready to roll out the red carpet for this well-known religious holiday, which will take place this year from sundown Dec. 11 to sundown Dec. 18.

6th in the City Shabbat: Chanukah Style

Young Professional Kesher Chanukah Party
Celebrate Hanukkah with music, drinks, latkes and other snacks! Also includes a charity drive for Northern Virginia Family Services. 600 I St NW
Saturday, Dec. 12, 7-11 p.m., free if member, $10 non-member

Chanukah Magic and Miracles: A Community Chanukah Celebration
Fun for kids with food, crafts, signing, and more! 1529 16th St NW
Sunday, Dec. 13 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Lights, Latkes and Laughs
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington heralds in the Festival of Lights with a play for kids, homemade latkes and sufganyot, a community menorah lighting, and more! 6125 Montrose Road, Rockville
Sunday, Dec. 13 1-3 p.m., $7 per person, $20 per family

Christmas/Chanukah Walking Tour of Washington, DC with Menorah Lighting and National Christmas Tree
Holiday walking tour of DC, followed by a lighting ceremony at the National Menorah. Ends with a tour of the White House lawns and 50 Christmas trees decorated in honor of the US. The Ellipse

Chanukah Happy Hour on the Hill

Shabbat Hoppin’ with Tikkun Leil Shabbat
